Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky is a great Russian composer, whose ingenious compositions delight music lovers of the whole world. History of creation

The history of the "Waltz of Flowers" is inextricably linked with the creation Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky music for balletNutcracker", the composing time of which was in 1890-92.

The fact that we have the opportunity to admire one of the most beloved ballets, it is necessary to express gratitude not only to Peter Ilyich, but also to Ivan Aleksandrovich Vsevolzhsky, the director of the imperial theaters. This talented leader was constantly looking through a lot of literature, looking for material that could be used as the basis for musical performances. So, in 1890, the idea came to him on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater to stage not an ordinary performance, but a magnificent extravaganza, including both opera and ballet.

For a one-act opera, the work of Danish playwright Henrik Hertz "The Daughter of King Rene" was chosen, and for a two-act ballet, a fairy tale by German romantic writer Ernst Hoffmann "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King". Without hesitation, Vsevolzhsky, because at the Mariinsky Theater at that time they were preparing for the premiere production "Queen of spades", suggested to Pyotr Ilyich to carry out the plan and write music to the selected works. The composer could not refuse, but for the music to"Yolante"as the opera was later named, the composer was not worried, but the ballet caused not just a lot of doubts, but horror.

Initially, Tchaikovsky recorded the plot with an oral presentation by Ivan Alexandrovich, and only then began to work closely with the choreographer. Marius Petipa, which by that time had already created a detailed choreographic exposition for The Nutcracker. However, the work on the ballet still went with great difficulty. In despair, Tchaikovsky complained both to brother Modest and Vsevolzhsky that he had nothing but filthy abominations, and this made him feel very unhappy. Nevertheless, the work on the Nutcracker continued uninterruptedly. In the spring of 1991, going abroad, all thoughts of Pyotr Ilyich were occupied with ballet music, the first act of which he managed to finish in March in Paris. The composer began the second act in Rouen, and then because of the concerts in the French capital, scheduled for early April, the writing of music for the Nutcracker was suspended. Further, the upcoming trip to the United States at the opening of the Carnegie Hall concert hall made its own adjustments to the work on the ballet. Deeply worried that he could not fulfill his obligations, Tchaikovsky sent a message to Vsevolzhsky asking him to postpone the premiere of the performances to the next theatrical season.

Returning from travels at the end of May, the composer, who had long pondered the musical vision of the fairy tale of Hoffmann, in June in sketches of the work, among which was the aforementioned "Waltz of the Flowers“I was finally able to put the last point. And when Peter Ilyich began to orchestrate a new composition in December 1891, he immediately had an idea to create a suite from the brightest numbers of the work. The Nutcracker instrumentation was completed in February 1892, and next month, six numbers from the ballet, including the Waltz of the Flowers, under the direction of the author, were performed with great success at one of the symphony concerts of the RMS.

And then there is only one amazing harp. With her fascinating and fragile expanded cadence, she gives the piece a magical color that sets listeners to wait for a miracle.

The first part of the waltz (Dolce cantando), which includes two diverse themes, begins with a stately, inviting, but at the same time heartfelt and gentle move horns according to the sounds of tonic triad. Then the development of musical material continues with the upward-directed flight melody. clarinets. The second theme of the first part is characterized by flexibility and grace. Affectionate, but at the same time extraordinarily joyful, it sounds triumphantly in the performance of the violin group. Then, after the reprisal repetition of the entire first part, a three-part middle section begins, the mood of which is characterized by tenderness and poetry. His serene and bright main melody, melodiously performed flutes and goboi. When you re-conduct this theme is filled with a special fabulous color, which brings the sound of bells. The next episode of the second part of the waltz is the lyrical center of the whole composition. Here, to dance music, charming romance melodies give an amazingly plastic sound. altos and cellos.
